Nobody cares.
Nobody cares about anything. Is there even a reason to care in the world?
It’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot recently. There’s a very, very small percentage of people who care about you.
When you think about it, there’s 8 billion people on the planet. Everybody’s so focused on what they’re doing and their work. And you step outside and you think, like, cool, I wonder what people will think about the clothes I’m wearing today. But in reality nobody cares. They’re thinking in their head about what clothes they’re wearing.
Everybody’s wrapped up in their own world.
You put so much pressure on yourself to do something, or to succeed, or to do work, or to be the best at work, or whatever you do. But you’re just gonna die. Best case scenario, we live forever or something, but I know even some people don’t want that.
You go out and, you know, this dude’s yelling at the phone because he’s disputing a purchase. And these people are only focusing on their Instagram photo. And all you ever do is work, you know.
The world doesn’t care. Nobody cares.
Does this tree care about me?
Have I ever cared about this tree? It’s been here longer than my whole life. I’ve probably walked by it 10,000+ times, maybe 100,000.
Did I ever stop and ask it how it’s doing? What it’s thinking? Does it have to get up and go to work tomorrow? Is it on rotation?
Does it think about what other trees think about it? Is it worried about finding a spouse or starting a family?
Does it just not care because nobody cares?
Do the birds care that I’m outside? Does the guy who’s had a super bad day care about anything that’s going on around him?
Probably not.
Do I care? Probably too much about work, and I put too much sauce into other things.
Probably there’s so many more important things to care about in life. But how do you decide what’s important to care about? Do you know what you should care about?
